More Work

Hello again my amazing Media Moguls, Unfortunately, I'm still laid up in bed like an old Irish granny, feeling very sorry for herself! So in my absence can you complete the following just to make me feel a little better: Analyse the opening of one film within your chosen genre (this must be a different film to the the ones you analysed for your research) but I want you to focus on editing techniques (transitions and effects etc.) Create a power point (scribd) presentation (or you can do a piece to camera using photo booth) and discuss the editing techniques used within this opening scene: What techniques have been used? Does this editing conform to the genre? If so how? If not why? What impact does the editing have on the narrative of the opening? Does it build tension? Is it parallel or contrapuntal to the music and on screen action? Once you have completed this, I would like you to go back to editing your own opening sequences and add some transitions and effects to your project (keep in mind what you discovered from your analysis). Screen grab your work and again create a post discussing the transitions you have used and your reasons why - this can also be a piece to camera (use lots of media language when discussing) If you have finished all this, then take any spare time to go through your blogs and complete any work which may be outstanding. Hopefully I will see you all on Thursday, all being well Miss B xx

Cover Work

Hey guys, Apologies for not being in today - I'm feeling under the weather unfortunately, but the good news is that you can continue to work on your rough cuts in my absence. By the end of today's lesson, you should have trimmed any unwanted clips and inserted all your cuts into the timeline(don't worry about transitions and fades until that is done first!) Then I want you to screen grab your work and create a new blog post outlining: What your role was What did you find easy/hard? How did you overcome any potential barriers? Did you notice any continuity errors - if so what will you do in the edit to rectify them? Has your rough cut deviated from your storyboard? If so, how/why? When you are writing this, try to be reflective rather than descriptive - if you had a problem, how did you fix it and what have you learned from it etc. Good luck and I hope to be better asap to get you started with the next stages of the edit. Miss B xx
